"Elizabeth? Liz? Wake up! Wake up! Elizabeth!" Lucky cried trying to free Liz
from her nightmare.
He grabbed her wrists, knowing that she'd flail wildly upon awakening. Half
awake, she struggled against his grasp.
"Liz! It's me! Elizabeth, it's Lucky." Liz stared as she realized where she was.
He dropped her wrists and both of her hands flew to her mouth.
"Oh, Lucky! It's starting again!" she whispered, crying on his chest.
"Shh, it's OK. He can't hurt you anymore."
"It was him! I know it was him. I should have gone to the police as soon as-
it's my fault that Loren was almost- oh God!"
"It is not yor fault! You did nothing wrong. Loren did nothing wrong! The only
person who was wrong was that sicko." Lucky replied angrily, trying not to think
about what that man had done to his wife.
"I keep telling myself that, but it keeps coming back. Something I could have
done, I should have done." Liz wiped away her tears.
"Liz, no one could have done something in that situation unless it was
someone like Lu who happened to be in the right place at the right time." Lucky
could see that Liz was calming down.
"Or someone who found her and took her home with him and helped ger until
she was strong enough to trust again." Lucky smiled and kissed her on the
forehead.
"Love you too. Try and get some sleep." Lucky looked at his wife as she
pulled the covers closer, his eyes a mixture of adoration, conern, and a once
dormant revenge returning to him.
